Qantm

Established in 1996, Qantm College is Australia's leading private provider of education for the games, animation and creative digital media industries. This is supported by the users of SUMEA who voted Qantm College "Games Educator of the Year" in 2006. The College's Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment is one of the only pure 'games' degree in Australia with students majoring in either animation or games programming. The Bachelor of Applied Multimedia cover most new media design and development including mobile content development. Qantm College students use industry standard programs and equipment and are taught by industry experienced lecturers. Qantm college qualifications have been designed in conjuction with the digital media industries to ensure that the course content and student outcomes are relevant to industry needs. Animation students have access to a motion capture system and a green screen studio to ensure they are exposed to all contemporary animation techniques. Programmers can use Qantm's own games engine (QGF4) which is based on OGRE with the addition of networking and physics components. Many Qantm College students are working for games companies both within Australia and overseas as programmers, 3D artists, QA experts and level designers. Multiumedia and graphic design students also have very positive work outcomes, in 2005 80% of Qantm students were working 4 months from completing their studies. www.qantm.com.au

The Academy of Interactive Entertainment

Since its establishment in 1996, the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) has consistently earned wide recognition from industry, graduates and governments as Australia's premier Registered Training Organisation for the Game Development and Creative Media industries. Its emphasis on quality education is reflected in numerous training awards and high graduate employment rates. AIE is at the centre of Games Industry growth in Australia, as a founding and continuing board member of the Games Association of Australia, organiser of the Australian Games Developers Conference and the Sony Foundation of Australia games specific training scholarships. Both its Canberra and Melbourne campuses are co-sited with games studios and AIE graduates are to be found in most Australian and many overseas game development companies. AIE's recent extensive games industry surveys will contribute to new 2007 Advanced Diploma courses in programming and art that reflect the latest in industry practice. New modules in 3D digital art will also give students employment pathways to many other industries including film, advertising, bio-technology, design of all kinds, town planning, defence simulation and the 'serious games' area. Keep an eye on our website for more info as it becomes available. AIE often acts as a resource for parents, teachers and students who want to know more about different aspects of digital art and interactive media. Head to www.aie.edu.au and check out our latest student works in the gallery or get further info on AIE's full-time, part-time and online study options. Alternatively, we are always happy to have a chat about options by phone.
